It has been nearly a week now since it was no longer compulsory to wear masks in public open-air places yet today when I was out and about I noticed that up to 95% of the people in the street were masked (including me!). I thought I´d be the only one and that I was probably being over-cautious but I guess not. Considering how much trouble there has been elsewhere with anti-mask protests I´m surprised more people haven´t discarded theirs given the chance.

People don't really wear masks in the outdoors anymore here but many still do in shops. Fortunately social distancing seems to have been happily adopted and everybody is altogether more polite and waiting their turn in doorways and for people to pass at a safe distance etc.
ReplyDeleteSocial distancing has been less respected here. Even at the height of the pandemic people would stand too close in queues. I remember getting shouted at when someone was breathing down my neck in the supermarket and I asked them to please keep their distance! I guess it is a cultural thing, people are much more 'touchy feely' here and personal space less respected.
DeleteYes, I am still masked as I worry about my husband. A customer at the supermarket on Saturday wouldn't pass the divider to separate our shopping as she said so many people touch it all day.

It sounds like being cautious is still very much to the forefront...very understandable.
